Killing Our Health, One Choice at a Time

Honestly, I’m just grateful to be sitting here and writing this. To have a clear mind, no hospital visits, no kidney stones, no diabetes diagnosis, no heart issues — just the simple ability to reflect on my health and actually do something about it.

But the question is:
Do we even realize how lucky we are?
Do we appreciate being able to walk, think, run, laugh, and live without medical restrictions?

If you do, great. But if you’ve never really thought about it — maybe it’s time you should.

So, What Are We Really Eating?

Ask yourself: What do you eat daily?
Is it something that fuels you, or something that’s slowly harming you?

We’ve become a generation that eats more for taste and cravings than for actual nutrition. We choose instant noodles, sugary cereals, fried snacks, and cold drinks over real food — and half the time, we don’t even know what ingredients are in them.

The problem?
Most of these foods are ultra-processed — full of sugar, preservatives, and artificial stuff that your body wasn’t designed to handle regularly.

According to a study published in The BMJ in 2019, just a 10% increase in consumption of ultra-processed foods was linked to a higher risk of cancer. That’s not fear-mongering. That’s real science.

We’re Living in the “Diabetes Capital” of the World

India now has over 100 million diabetics — more than any other country in the world. And that number is only rising.

It’s not just genetics — our lifestyle is a huge part of it. We eat sugar-loaded desserts, carb-heavy meals, and barely move during the day.
No daily walks, no exercise, not even stretching.
Then we wonder why our energy is low, why we’re tired all the time, or why climbing stairs feels like a workout.

And I get it — life is busy. But ask yourself:

Are you going to let your health slip away because of habits that only you have the power to change?

What If There’s a Crisis and You Can’t Even Run?

Sounds dramatic? Maybe.
But think about it: if something unexpected happened, would your body be able to cope?

I’ve spoken to people dealing with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure — and do you know what most of them say?

"I wish I had taken better care of myself earlier."

Regret is a tough pill to swallow, especially when it’s too late to undo the damage.

We’re Young, But Are We Wasting Our Youth?

Our generation should be out there playing sports, dancing, hiking, trying new things — moving.
But what are we actually doing?
Binge-watching shows, scrolling for hours, eating pizza on the couch, and sleeping late.

The habits we build now will either carry us or break us later.

Even during pregnancy, movement matters. There’s been a noticeable increase in C-section deliveries — not always because of complications, but often because of a lack of physical activity. WHO recommends moderate exercise during pregnancy for healthier outcomes. It's not about pushing hard — it’s just about not being inactive.

And then there’s the social pressure side of it — especially for men.
Smoking to look "cool", drinking excessively, gulping down energy drinks and cold drinks for the vibe.
But those same people won’t be around if something goes wrong with your liver or kidneys. You know who will be? Your family — the ones who suffer when your health does.

I’m Not Saying Quit Everything. Just Be Aware.

I’m not here to tell you to eat only kale or give up on burgers forever. Life’s meant to be enjoyed too.

But at least know what you’re putting in your body.

  • Read the ingredients.

  • Replace one junk meal with something healthier.

  • Take a 15-minute walk after dinner.

  • Get good sleep.

  • Cut down on sugar.

Small steps — not perfection.

If Not Now, Then When?

We keep saying “I’ll start tomorrow.”
But what if your body decides not to wait for tomorrow?

This is the time to move. To enjoy your energy. To be playful, strong, and active. Don’t let "I don’t feel like it" be your excuse every day.
Even if it’s just 5–10 minutes — move your body.

"Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live."

Health isn’t about six-pack abs or running marathons. It’s about living without meds, without regret, and with full freedom.

Let’s not throw that away.

I know you are ready to die for your family, but are you ready to live a healthier life for them?

Think about it.
